The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of a 12-week intervention program on body composition and performance values in overweight women who have carried out 5-10% reduction of body weight, but later their weight loss stopped. Eight overweight women (mean +-SD: age 37,1+-9,9 years; BMI 30,6+-4,3; fat mass 35,1+-3,8%) without the movement restriction and without the associated medical complications undertake 12-week intervention program.
Intervention program consisted of nutritional control, concurrent strength and endurance training program and educational lessons. Subjects significantly improved their maximum performance in treadmill test and VO2max from 31,4 +- 6,3 to 34,7 +- 4,3ml/kg/min, reduce their body mass from 81,3 +- 10,0 to 77,7 +- 7,6 kg and fat mass from 28,6 +- 5,1 to 25,2 +- 3,9 kg without change in fat free mass.
The result of the present study suggested that appropriate intervention program may lead to break of the stagnation in weight loss and to influence body composition.
