On the borders of suicide. Psychoanalytic perspective on suicide

Publication |
2019

Abstract

In this paper, we attempted, on the one hand, to define the psychoanalytic approach to suicide compared to other disciplines we dealt with in the first part of the thesis, and on the other hand, to approach the most well-known theoretical concepts of psychoanalysis that we then applied to suicide. These were based on the theories of Freud, Klein and Maltsberger.

These theories, like most of the psychoanalytic theories, have arisen on the basis of clinical observations and psychotherapeutic practice. We hope that we have been able to elucidate the maybe somehow complicated world of psychoanalytic constructs.

At the same time, we believe that this work will bring a more thorough understanding of the inner world of a person balancing on the borders of suicide.
