Advancing Culture of Living with Landslides. Landslides in Different Environment

Publication at Faculty of Science |
2017

Abstract

The book collected main scientific issues from four different sessions of the World Landslide Forum IV. In this book we presented following topics: Landslide Interactions with the Built Environment, Landslides in Natural Environment, Landslides and Water, Landslides as Environmental Change Proxies - Looking at the Past.

The main objective was to draw attention to the different types of landslides with respect to communities, infrastructure and cultural heritage. Landslides in the natural environment were covered as well, including all forms of aquatic environments.

Another challenge was to relate established landslide chronologies to regional paleoenvironmental changes (e.g. paleoseismic events, deglaciation, climatic changes, human-induced deforestation). We also to draw attention to the types of landslides in the context of different climatic zones, geomorphological and geotechnical settings and triggering factors, in order to gain better knowledge of the possibilities of mitigation and risk management.
