The very basis of affective research is a successful emotion elicitation in a laboratory environment. To ensure the quality of a study, the researcher should firstly identify the theoretical paradigm (modular or dimensional) he or she uses.
Next, he or she must choose the most appropriate elicitation method. Lastly, a proper pilot study is needed to examine the application of chosen methods.
