One of the most typical characteristics of current tourism is massive investments of developers into the tourist urbanization. They are represented by construction of complexes of apartment houses, new ski resorts and golf courses.
These investments are also directed to rural areas transforming them considerably. The aim of the paper is to evaluate the perception of tourist urbanization by geography students at the universities in Nitra and in Prague.
After visualization of the state of tourist urbanization in the Veľká Lomnica municipality by means of visual aids, students completed a questionnaire which was the basis for identifying the positive and negative aspects of tourist urbanization in the study area. While the golf course was perceived by respondents mostly positive, the second important element of the tourist urbanization (apartment houses) were mostly associated with negative impacts - environmental as well as impacts negatively affecting the residents.
