The article focuses on an important part of everyday communication - addressing, specifically the problems which are connected with it from the point of view of the enquirers of The Language Counselling Service. The service is offered to the general public by Czech Language Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences.
The aim of this article is to find out what are the most frequent problems of addressing that enquirers deal with, what arguments enquirers use to support their opinions, and what attitudes they adopt. The analysis is based on almost 1000 e-mail queries from 2007-2010.
To satisfy presumed curiosity of readers, the article also includes recommendations and solutions provided by the Language Counselling Service.
