The article deals with the possibilities of developing gifted pupils at the beginning of school attendance and during primary level of education in Czech language classes. Recently, the scientists leave the definition of giftedness based on summarizing IQ, because children differ in their intellectual profiles.
In this article, language giftedness will be described. Language development of gifted children and also their psychological characteristic is commented on.
The article also focuses on several problems that gifted children may encounter in Czech language classes, e.g. learning disorders, such as dyslexia and dysgraphia which makes it difficult to identify such children as gifted. The intellectual profile of children with unequally developed areas of giftedness may be incomprehensible for some teachers.
Finally, several proposals of developing gifted children in Czech language classes are presented.
