The paper provides an insight into the use of digital media among inhabitants of the Czech Republic to watch and browse for additional information from the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Only 2% of respondents used digital media to watch live streaming of the World Cup matches, while17% of respondents used digital media to get additional information.

Mostly, respondents retrieved information on the schedule of the World Cup and updates on intermediate and final results of matches. Moreover, there was a significant group of respondents (10%) who used digital media to place bets on the World Cup matches, sometimes even during the match, at a betting office.
