Recovery of upper limb function after stroke is still one of the major heats for clinicians involved in the rehabilitation proces s. The acute to subacute phase after stroke is the optimal time window to promote the recovery.

The cur rent study concerns an approach to address this shortcoming, through evaluation of the Gloreha Idrogenet(R) (GI), a robotic device that enables intensive and repetitive practice of hand and fingers. Participants receive at least 20 ses sions last ing 30 minutes of robotic ther apy through (GI), and at least 60 minutes of usual physiother apy for five days per week for four weeks.

The relevant improvement of finger motor score is reveal ing the specificity of eff ect derived by GT as elbow and shoulder are not directly involved by the treatment. The study provided a promis- ing preliminary evidence for the eff ectiveness of GT in provid ing an additive eff ect to upper limb rehabilitation in subacute stroke patients
