Octospora pannosa sp. nov. - an attractive-spored species on the pleurocarpous moss Brachytheciastrum velutinum

Publication at Faculty of Science |
2018

Abstract

The bryophilous ascomycete Octospora pannosa is presented based on ecological and morphological data from two localities in Germany and Serbia. So far members of the genus Brachytheciastrum or the family Brachytheciaceae have not been reported as host for species of Octospora or related genera.

The ascospore ornamentation of the new species consists of a ragged reticulum and is unique within all genera of the bryophilous Pezizales.
