Abstract
Studying and analyzing the legislation of home education in European countries made it possible to reveal a significant link between development, social traditions and historical experience of individual countries. A number of similarities have been identified among countries from the same cultural region or among counties with similar political development.
The Anglo-Saxon countries (the United Kingdom and Ireland), to a lesser extent the Scandinavian countries and south-east Europe noticeably differ from the rest of Europe.
