Abstract
Editorial deals with the past, present and future of cancer epigenetics. It briefly describes particular epigenetic mechanisms such as DNA methylation, histone modification and post-transcriptional gene regulation by miRNA.
It is focused on current trends in oncology. It gives an overview of the possibility of using epigenetic changes as potential predictive and diagnostic/screening biomarkers.
The role of epigenetics in the treatment and prevention of cancer is also reviewed.
