Abstract

Demographic revolution is a basic theoretical concept which describes profound changes in demographic reproduction that began in Europe in mid-18th century and that currently takes place in some developing countries. A significant reduction in mortality and fertility rates occur in the course of several stages, which means that people live longer, but less children are born.

These processes contribute to the current ageing of population.
