Abstract
On the one hand, Rockfests - the national shows of amateur rock music represented an olive branch of Czechoslovak socialist regime toward rock music, on the other hand, it was a way to survey and check amateur rock bands. Still many of them participated.
Some alternative Pilsen bands were among participants as well. The article focuses on the views of Pilsen musicians, how they evaluated their participation and what it meant to them.
