According to research 78 % of the Czech population wish to die at home. Currently more than 60 % of the chronically ill die in beds of intensive, acute health care facilities or aftercare.
Find out the conditions for which the patients wish to die in a home environment and try to transfer some of them into intensive care units, that could be the way how to improve (increase) the quality of palliative care provided here. This qualitative research proved a factor of chance, as a major obstacle to this transfer.
It reflects both the individuality of the nursing (treating) staff and the unpredictability of the current situation in the department. To increase the quality of palliative care, the factor of chance must be eliminated.
