Abstract
The chapter presents the hermeneutics that Ephrem Syrian interprets the biblical texts in his Hymns of Paradise. Particular attention is paid to the terminology of the Syriac term "rázá" and its multilayered concept of "mystery".
Furthermore, the chapter deals with theological issues such as the aim and purpose of human creation, the function of the Paradise tree of knowledge, and Ephrem's favorite image of clothing and clothing. The text concludes that for Ephrem Paradise is understood and interpreted cosmologically, soteriologically and eschatologically.
