The article deals with patients with congenital disposition of venous thromboembolism and with the possibility of preventing them from developing thrombosis and how it can be effectively treated in accordance with current recommendations. The introduction explains what hereditary thrombophilia is and in which groups of patients the examination of these conditions is indicated.
In addition, the risk situations in which patients with hereditary thrombophilia should be given pharmacological prophylaxis of thromboembolic disease, particularly with regard to pregnancy and puerperium. Finally, the most recent possibilities of thromboembolic drug therapy are presented taking into account the specifics of treatment in patients with congenital thrombophilia.
