Abstract
The article aims to acquaint readers with the construction of the world's highest dam Rogun. When it is put into operation, Tajikistan will become self-sufficient in electricity generation, and, at the same time, it will become the largest Central Asian exporter of electric energy.
The issue of water retention in the Amu Darya basin is very sensitive also to Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, which use it for irrigation during the summer.
