Abstract

The article brings an analysis of the literary character of Robinson Crusoe created by Daniel Defoe highlighting both his rationalism and his relationship with God. It also describes Robinson's transformation into a children's and youth literature hero emphasising the role played by Joachim Heinrich Campe and follows the further development of the genre of robinsonade in the 19th and 20th century.
