Publication

Abstract

Recently, various scholars study the theories that can be used to explain the concept of NGOs governance. However, there is no clear theoretical framework that can emphasize the importance of the democracy theory in explaining this concept and its mechanisms.

Hence, the study intends to test three codes of NGOs governance in three countries South Africa, USA, and UK to model them under the existing theories and explore the theories explaining them and if there is any ignored theories that can be added. Based on document context analysis, this paper try to model the codes under the theories and figure out the other theories that can be used to explain these codes.

The findings conclude that the democracy theory with its participation and representation components is needed to explain some principles and practices in these codes. The author introduced a theoretical framework that can be used to explain the concept of NGOs governance.
