Harmonization of employment and family life has been an important issue in both national and European law for a long time. Measures taken in this respect are aimed at creating opportunities for employees caring for their children to take part in the labour market, in particular for those returning back from their maternity or parental leave.
Changes in regulation apply primarily to employment law and social security law, but they are also to ensure that pre-school establishments are available. Harmonization is developing and indicates positive changes.
