Abstract

Worldwide, the incidence and prevalence of the non-communicable disease are on the rise. Lifestyle plays a pivotal role.

Humans evolved to high energy expenditure and low energy input. Nevertheless, modern time is characterized by low energy expenditure a high energy input.

For health benefits, short bursts of physical activity are sufficient. Walking is a basic type of physical activity, accessible for almost everybody.

Regular physical activity has beneficial effects on all components of the metabolic syndrome. It represents a simple therapeutic method with a complex spectrum of effects, that is accessible to almost everyone.
