Abstract
Thinking about light has played a number of important roles in cultural history: a binder at the interface of sacral and profane environments, the key to some ideas of metaphysics, or a symbol of intellectual grasp of reality. Scientific practice has gradually refined the description of the nature of light as a physical phenomenon, but to this day light also remains in the collective consciousness as a motive of salvation, justice or hope.
