Introduction: There is a bigger risk of complication after surgery in elderly patients. Nowadays, minimally invasive techniques come to the foreground in kidney tumour operations.
These methods could reduce the risk of complications in not only this group of patients. Material and methods: We performed robotic partial nephrectomy due to tumour between 2/2015-12/2018 in 43 patients with the average age of 71,9 years.
Results: We registered three intraoperative complications, four early postoperative complication Clavien-Dindo II (6,9 %) and one early postoperative complication Clavien-Dindo IIIB (2,3 %). There was no mortality in our patients.
Conclusion: Robotic partial nephrectomy is a safe method suitable also for elderly patients. Age should not be considered as a contraindication to robotic surgery, even for advanced procedures.
