The topic of this paper are folklore sources, namely demonological legends in which a revenant is embodied by a real historical personality - an official of the nobility. The study contains comprehensive biograms of officials whose personalities left a significant impression within the oral tradition.
A comparison of the historical facts with the content of the plots of individual legends offers several hypotheses that can serve as an answer to the question of why have these personalities of officials of the nobility become the actors of the demonological legends.
