Valency Lexicon of Czech Nouns NomVallex: Starting Point and Goals

Publication at Faculty of Mathematics and Physics |
2018

Abstract

The corpus-based valency lexicon of Czech nouns NomVallex is a starting project building upon the theory of valency developed within Functional Generative Description and extending the two lexicons developed within this tradition, PDT-Vallex and Vallex. The linguistic material is extracted from Czech linear and syntactically annotated corpora.

In comparison with PDT-Vallex, the treatment of entries will be more exhaustive, for example, in the coverage of senses and in the semantic classification added to selected lexical units. The main criteria for including nouns in the lexicon will be semantic class membership and the complexity of valency patterns.

Valency of nouns will be captured in the form of valency frames, enumeration of combinations of adnominal participants, and corpus examples.
