Successful treatment of recalcitrant gluteal hidradenitis suppurativa with brodalumab after anti-TNF failure

Abstract
We report here a 45-year-old man who suffered from HS since the age of 12. His family and medical history was unremarkable.
He was a nonobese smoker with a body mass index (BMI) of 24. On clinical examination, the buttocks demonstrated near confluent, hyperpigmented scarring as well as scattered erythematous, edematous nodules, abscesses, and several draining sinus tracts.
The inguinal area was also involved with the presence of nodules and some sinus tracts. HS was staged as severe (Hurley stage III).
He complained about severe pain of the gluteal area and hips which significantly reduced his quality of life.
