New and growing requirements on teachers: de-professionalization or re-professionalization of the teaching profession?

Abstract

First, traditional parameters of respected professions by functionalist sociology are matched with the teaching profession. Then, the current social megatrends (demographic, digital, work changes) are described.

And new requirements are shown as a chance for new professionnalism.
