Abstract

The Kubišta - Filla. The founders of modern Czech art in the field of cultural production book is based on the assumption that the major events that took place on the Prague cultural scene in the first two decades of the 20th century were, to a large extent, determined by the volatile personal relationship between Bohumil Kubišta (1884-1918) and Emil Filla (1882-1953), the two leading lights of the generation of the Osma (Eight) group and The Group of Visual Artists.

Its analytical approach provides fresh insights into the radical changes occurring at that time and into the stimuli traditionally considered intrinsic to modern Czech art. The underlying concept of the project is inspired by Pierre Bourdieu, whose approach to the sociology of art centres around the disclosure and examination of relationships.
