The chapter introduces Rudolf Chmel as the founding personality of the Slovak studies at the Faculty of Arts of Charles University in Prague as well as the Slovak town Svit as the place of childhood and youth of Rudolf Chmel under the Tatra Mountains where, within the specific union of the national and multicultural traditions of the region, his personality had formed. Special attention is paid to the life and work of Czech artists in the Tatra Mountains and to some specific aspects of functioning, naming an renaming of the objects of former climatic spa in the High Tatras.
