Central Europe and the Hungarian Kingdom in the Work of the Humanistic Historian and Publisher Daniel Adam from Veleslavín
Abstract
Daniel Adam of Veleslavín (born August 31, 1546 + October 18, 1599 in Prague), humanist, patriotic writer, translator, publisher, who published many historical and scientific books, studied humanistic studies at the University of Prague. He was with Anna, the daughter of printer Georg Melantrich from Aventine (1511-1580), married and later inherited his printing workshop.
Daniel Adam obtain heraldry with nickname "of Veleslavin" by imperator Rudolf II. Works: Daniel Adam wrote and printed the Historical Calendar (1578, 1590) Politia historiea (1584, 1592), edided and printed Johann Carion's Chronicles (1584) and two Chronicles from the history of Bohemia (1585).
Adam and John Kocin z Kocinétu translated and printed Johannes Lowenklau's The New Chronicle of the Turkish nation (1594). He wrote about the history of the Kingdom of Hungary.
Daniel Adam was a secret member of the Unity of the Brethren.
