Abstract
The preterm prelabor rupture of membranes is currently a pregnancy pathology that is not preventable and predictable. However, recent work on tissue models of fetal membranes suggests that progesterone or 17-alpha hydroxyprogesterone caprorate may counteract the weakening of fetal membranes and their subsequent rupture.
