The patient falls occurred at the hospital departments belong among the frequent adverse events that may lead to prolonged hospitalization and increased costs for health-care services. Nowadays, the fall represents one of the quality indicators of provided health-care services, while the motivation to reduce total number of falls as well as their consequences in health-care facilities is increasing.
As an effective tool in prevention of drug-related falls might be the presence of clinical pharmacist in a multidisciplinary team, who is capable to implement theoretical knowledge including identification of population fall-risk increasing drugs and to consider their individual benefit-risk for the patient. The goal of the article is to review fall-risk increasing drugs affecting central nervous system and to demonstrate case report reflecting the management of falls in clinical practice.
