Abstract

House dust mite (HDM) allergy is in Middle Europe most common and significant form of non-seasonal inhaled allergy. Diagnosis of hypersensitivity to HDM is arising from synthesis of precise anamnesis, prick test with allergen extracts and specific IgE, to prove causality provocation test are advisable.

After performing skin prick test with allergen extracts we prefer molecular (component resolved, CRD) specific IgE diagnostics. Despite actual level of HDM allergy diagnosing is not optimal - many molecules for CRD are missing in routine praxis - most of patients with HDM allergy can be diagnosed and treated adequately.

Allergen immunotherapy is the only therapeutic approach influencing natural course of allergic disease.
