Proto-Slavic and Old Czech fronting of vowels in the dative plural of the jo-stems

Abstract

The study deals with the development of the jo-stem dative plural ending in Old Czech. It tries to explain when and why the regular Proto-Slavic fronting of o to e was removed in dative, and how the following (Old Czech) fronting o - ě was applied.

The attention is also paid to the role and motivation of analogy which influenced the above-mentioned changes.
