Nineteenth century migration from the Czech Lands established several vivid communities in the Balkans. In many of those communities, the role of Czech minority schools has been important for the maintenance of Czech as a heritage language.
The poster focuses on the state of existing educational institutions in the area (especially in rural areas of current Croatia, Serbia, Romania, and Bosnia and Herzegovina; in states with Czech minorities, as well as Czech national institutions), presenting also on the results of research done among bilingual pupils in Croatian secondary schools, belonging up to seventh emigrant generation.
