The book entitled "The Ambiguity of Structures. The Dynamics of Forces" centres on the visual expressions of Czechoslovak artists in the 1960s and the 1970s.
They employed specific materials such as plastic (Jiří Bielecki, Jiří Hilmar), plexiglass (Radek Kratina, Štefan Belohradský, Kamil Linhart), layered and scoured plaster-of-Paris (Eduard Antal) and semi-transparent film (Jan Wojnar), and this approach also extended to the younger generation (Václav Krůček, Vladana Hajnová). Apart from subjects arising from the very nature of the materials (fragility, changeability, reflections, flickering and fogging), the exhibition also reveals other motifs, such as interest in a regular system and its disruption, a solid grid and its softening, vibrations and stillness, densification and dilution of points, optical pulsation, and imaginary action versus real movement.
