In the monograph, we dealt with the issue of physical underachievement of younger school-aged pupils in terms of physical education in school through detailed literary research and subsequently with the contribution of a case study. Physical underachievement was identified using six deliberately selected physical ability tests (long jump from the spot, repeated sit-ups for one minute, shuttle run 4x10 m, deep standing forward bend, balance position test and ball catching test) and in the context of other variables, possible determinants were identified that could lead to physical underachievement for pupils of a younger school age.
Our mixed research combined literary research of kinanthropological literature and other specialised literature in the field of pedagogy, primary pedagogy, psychology and pedagogical psychology with a case study that monitored this issue in two primary schools: in one case from a big city and in the second case from a small town in two phases (school years 1998/1999 and 2008/2009).
