This poster sums up the theoretical background, the process and the results of the research on initialization in Czech sign language with the focus on signs for anthroponyms. The initialization is a process that uses the manual alphabet to derive signs from written forms of words in spoken language.
The material for the research was taken from a news programme in Czech sign language (Zprávy v českém znakovém jazyce). The research focused on the way the initials were modified in comparison to the manual alphabet.
In total, 8 modifications were found - some of them are more common, some are marginal.
