Abstract

A review of "Jezídové: Komunita na útěku" ("The Êzîdî. A Community on the Run").

The book by Dr. Karel Černý of the Faculty of Humanities at Prague's Charles University is the first-ever Czech-language monograph in Kurdish Studies.

It analyzes the emigration of members of the Yezidi (Êzîdî) socio-religious community in Iraq to Europe in wake of the events unfolding after August 2014 when thousands of Yezidis became victims of violence by the terrorist group Islamic State (IS, ISIS, ISIL, Daesh). The book is unique at the international level.

My critical remarks mainly focused on the book publisher's sloppy editorial performance.
