Abstract
"Những câu chuyện về khu phố nhỏ ven sông" is a Vietnamese translation of Jan Neruda's Tales of the Little Quarter. It is the first comprehensive work of Neruda in Vietnamese.
The publication is the output of a joint literary translation project between the Faculty of Arts of Charles University (FF UK) - represented by Vietnamese Studies - and the Faculty of Literature of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities of Ha Noi, Vietnamese National University, with whom FF UK has set up a faculty-level collaboration. Mr.
Duong Tat Tu, a Vietnamese Bohemist who has translated two short stories, was invited to the translation. The translation is supported by the grant "Support for the publication of Czech literature in translation" by the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic.
The book was first published in October 2018 on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Czech country; a second edition was published in February 2019. The publication was very well received by Vietnamese readers and rated by Vietnamese literary experts as the third best translation in the TOP 20 list of literary translations into Vietnamese for the year 2018.
