In this study herbicide difenzoquat is determined by differential pulse voltammetry at a mercury meniscus modified silver solid amalgam electrode. The optimal medium for the determination is Britton-Robinson buffer pH = 11.0.
At this pH difenzoquat gives one cathodic signal at -1.33 V (vs. Ag|AgCl|3M KCl reference electrode).
An addition of a few drops of gelatin as a surface-active compound greatly improves repeatability of determination of difenzoquat and removes sharp maxima in voltammograms. Under these conditions it is possible to achieve limits of quantitation in submicromolar range.
