Abstract

Specialized complex neurorehabilitation care is important part of the complex neurology care for survivors with acquired brain injury. In addition to physiotherapy and occupational therapy, it is necessary to provide a speech pathology and dysphagia care and as well psychological care.

The Rehabilitation Centre Kladruby (RÚ) started a pilot complex neurorehabilitation program - Kranioprogram in 2015, with a guarantee of availability of speech and psychological care, based on the indicative criteria. A secondary dysphagia screening (n = 124) has also been introduced to help identify risk in patients with silent aspiration (n = 27) based on the experience of undetected silent aspiration.

Based on these experiences, a dysphagia team was assembled. Currently, the Kranioprogram in the RÚ is fully funded by health insurance companies, with the aim of extending this programme to other rehabilitation facilities.
