1st workshop for iteration of parameters of woody plants appraisal

Publication

Abstract

Workshop focused on setting and discussion of the particular steps of woody plants appraisal process (concept of value, valuation approaches, parameters influencing value and their definition, prioritization, setting the number of parameter levels, verification of the expert-set parameter scales for value adjustment) and also focused on gathering inputs for potential simplification or improved specification of woody plant appraisal steps. The panel of experts was divided into three thematic groups according to the areas of expertise.

In the workshop, the DELPHI method was used to document the progress of the expert panel judgements. The purposes of the application of this method were: to quantify the breadth of opinion spectrum of experts involved in the evaluation, to determine measures of opinion variability for individual appraisal parameters and to identify the "problematic" and "less problematic" evaluation points.

A structured questionnaire was employed as a tool for collecting the spectrum of the participants of the workshop, which the experts filled during the seminar, after the introductory presentation of the issue by the research team (i. e. the 1st round of the DELPHI panel; the next round was administered by e-mail).
