Abstract

Our country is renowned for its rich Cantor tradition, which has produced many European musicians. One of its representatives was also Jan Josef Du-sík, a cantor and organist in Caslav (1738-1818), who came from the Cantor tradition and continued in it.

He was the father of pianist Jan Ladislav, Mila-n's conductor František Benedikt and Catherine Veronika, a harpist. The con-tribution is commemorated by his life, his contacts with European musicians and his place in the Czech Cantor tradition.
