Zone I lesion of the extensor tendon is called mallet finger. The main cause is a forceful blow to the tip of the extended finger leading into sudden flexion.
The result of the injury is an extension lag of the DIP joint and semiflexed DIP joint with loss of active extension. The purpose of this retrospective study was to determine the success of conservative treatment of mallet finger.
Our file included 67 patients with mallet finger. We examined 12 patients within our retrospective study. 90.9 percent of patients have achieved excellent/good results of the treatment.
