Publication |
2020

Abstract

Classification and diagnostics of mental disorders used in Czechia is according to the International Classification of diseases (ICD). In 2019, the WHO has adopted its latest, 11th revision (ICD-11), with planned implementation since 2022.

The chapter Mental, behavioural or neurodevelopmental disorders in ICD-11 is coded as 06. Major change is a separation of Sleep-wake disorders and Sexual dysfunctions, Sexual pain disorders, and Gender incongruence into individual chapters.

The paper reviews the chapter of mental disorders, with regard to the changes from ICD-10. There are more categories, some changes in terminology, and new diagnostic entities in ICD-11.

However, only clinical experience can reveal true benefits and drawbacks of the new classification and diagnostics. Official Czech translation of ICD-11 and its implementation into electronic and information systems should be completed by 2022.
