The chapter interprets and analyzes the "lonely woman" heroine appearing in Jaroslav Dietl's TV series The Woman Behind the Counter (1977, Žena za pultem) and Hospital at the End of the City (1977 - 1981, Nemocnice na kraji města). It concludes that even though the loneliness of these heroines is motivated and caused by different factors, as well as variously experienced, it nevertheless goes beyond the patriarchal demands on women's conduct and their aspirations.
