Summary:The aim of our investigation was to determine whether the burnout syndrome is different in the international context of nurses in the Czech Republic, USA, Costa Rica and Spain. Burnout can affect especially professions working with people.
It can be the result of complex workplace interaction and social and psychological factors. Burnout and working stress have negative consequences on the health, safety of workers and their work productivity.
Longitudinal intervention studies are needed to clarify the burnout syndrome. There is a limited amount of information on the relationship between culture, social characteristics,the personality traits and burnout syndrome of nurses.
Intercultural and comparative studies are needed for better understanding of that problems. Prevention strategies should take into account the individual and social and cultural diversity of thepopulation examined.
