Think globally, teach locally: Local politics in secondary geographical education

Publication at Faculty of Science |
2020

Abstract

The closeness of local politics to citizens and the possibility of relatively easy participation should be also supported by consistent awareness in schools. The aim of the article is therefore to find out the position of local politics in secondary geographical education.

The identified brevity could lead to ignorance or lack of interest in the political life of municipalities. Specific suggestions of topics are presented in order to make geography more suitable in guiding students through the world of local politics.
